Quick Start Guide

This video guide gives you a clear look at how the Wireless RainClik is installed, adjusted, and used in the field. Use it as a helpful resource to better understand the product and get more from your irrigation system.

This wireless rain sensor "works great" and is "easy to install" on sprinkler systems. Customers praise its water conservation capabilities and simple setup. However, many note the non-replaceable battery (5-year lifespan) requires full unit replacement, which is costly and wasteful. Some report adjustment challenges and moisture retention issues in humid climates.

Works Great & Installs Easily

This rain sensor was easy to install and works great! I took it down for the winter with the irrigation system off, but don't dread putting it back up on the gutter when we start the system up in the spring.

Follow Instructions Exactly

Once installed properly it works ok. Please be sure to follow the instructions exactly as written. I had to watch videos and call the company after my install was not working. Everything was correct but the issue is the processor in the control head. It is very slow and not smart. When you make a change it takes a few moments to accept and reconfigure itself. Once I gave it a few minutes it accepted the wiring and sensor input. Had to perform the checks several times to get it to work. Once was accepted it works ok. Finally, there are no instructions as to how to adjust the drying gate on the sensor for your area. Once the operation is clear in your head you will have to play with it, letting it get wet and drying out to adjust the drying times to get it to work. Also it will not work when running the system on “Manual.” It has to be auto turned on by the controller to work. As this is the only option I would buy it again.

Easy Installation

Very easy to install on a Hunter Pro-C controller. Simple swap of the receiver, and the transmitter is already paired to it. The gutter mount is already included, so no need to order that if attaching to a gutter. The standard wall/roof mount is also included. The gutter mount is very nice and easy to use.

Worked Great...Until...

Easy install and the rain sensor and receiver come already paired. Note: this is a complete kit that includes the sensor bracket for mounting on gutter. No need to purchase separate bracket.Easy to wire into the controller and mounting was simple. System worked great until we had a heavy Colorado hail storm (in June -- crazy weather!). So much quarter-inch hail it looked like an inch or more of snow on the ground. It beat the plants to H-E-double-toothpicks and, unfortunately, the wireless rain sensor as well. This failure may be a corner case, but Colorado does get a fair amount of hail (just say'in). I'll give it the benefit of the doubt this first time.I'm replacing the kit with same and will give it another try. Didn't seem fair to claim it as a warranty replacement since it was a bad storm. BUT, if it fails again in the near future, I'll look for a different solution with the knowledge this wireless rain sensor isn't robust enough for this climate.

Battery in the transmitter is no good

Date of manufacture is May 2021 battery life is supposed to be 5 years. This should be a warranty issue. Hunter says I have to deal with Amazon. Amazon says it’s too late. Think twice before buying from AmazonUpdateAmazon agreed to refund the purchase as they could not replace the transmitterThough disappointed with the purchaseThe customer service was exemplary

I wish the battery were replaceable.

It rained. The sprinklers were shut off. It worked. They should be able to make this with a replaceable battery. No reason this should need replacement every 5 or so years. I was replacing an older unit with a dead battery.

Good Quality

I'm in Florida high humidity and had to almost completely close the sensor tab so the moisture didn't evaporate so fast. A couple hours after a rain and the sensor would read dry. Working great now that it's nearly closed all the way. Prevents the sprinklers from coming on in the rain or within a half day to day of rain enough to soak the sensor sponge. Wireless range is good and pretty easy to connect and configure.

Easy installation

This was easy to install as a replacement for my 10 yr old version. My only complaint is that the new model, just like the old one, has a sealed battery so at the end of battery life you just throw away a perfectly good sending unit due to dead battery. To make matters worse there was was no replacement for the old sending unit so needed to buy new sending and matching receiver and toss both old parts. Seems like a waste.

Who designs a product without a replaceable battery?

It works, but I'm annoyed these don't have a replaceable battery. I literally spent $80 to replace the old unit simply because the battery had gone out.

Great Replacement for Existing Sensor

This product was ordered to replace an older Hunter transmitter that was lost when the gutters were replaced on the house last fall. As such, all of the wiring was the same and easy to swap out the four wires. The mounting holes were slightly different on the receiver which required a new sheet rock anchor to be installed. My only constructive criticism is that it wasn't clear that this item also includes the optional gutter clamp. I wasn't aware of that and ordered one separately. I will not return the other one but am out the return shipping cost. Not being clear on the inclusion of the gutter clamp cost the one star; otherwise would have been a five star review.

Happy with the buy

All hooked up, tested, and working well. The install was super simple (for a DIYer). The wiring diagram that came with it was wrong, the Hunter site says Orange is unused, but the included manual/instructions said blue was unused. This is a difference between working and nit working.Once I noticed my ProC was saying "off, sensor" even though sensor was dry.. I looked up the wiring from Hunter's site. That got it working.I don't understand why the Hunter ProC has a sensor jumper AND a bypass switch; so make sure you remove the jumper if there is one!All in all a great buy, and will help save on water waste. I just hope the non-replaceable battery lasts as long as they advertise.I went another route and attached the transmitter to my wood fence using the included gutter attachment. We don't have gutters, so even attaching to first story eaves would certainly (over) fill up with run off from the second story. Using the fence let me keep the transmitter/receiver within 30 feet, with only an aluminium garage door between. All testing was done with the door down.

The transmitter stopped working

The signal light on receiver does not turn red or green properly. I checked according to the manual and found that the transmitter's battery does not function when I press and hold the spindle.

Wish it had a replaceable battery!

It works as advertised. Not thrilled that the wired ones (no battery required) were replaced by these the may only last for 5 years at most.

Good but a Replaceable Battery Would Make it Great!

I bought this to replace an existing unit. It work great but the lack of a replaceable battery keeps it from getting 5 stars. Seems to deliver about 4 years of use!

Sensor trouble after 2 years

This unit was installed with the construction of my new home in 2009. It worked great, and I liked the fact that it was a wireless sensor. Did as described, sensed rain and signalled the receiver which turns off the central sprinkler system until it dries out. Adjustment for dry time is nice also. No other features really, it's a utility that is supposed to sit there. But it's the start of the third summer season here in New England after a frozen winter, and when my sprinklers weren't coming on after I fired up the systems I traced it to this sensor - the receiver was always showing the red light for rain bypass but it hadn't been raining. I figured the battery was dead, because the self test on the wireless transmitter - hold down for 5 secs, and see the LED light blink on the sensor, and it should also signal the receiver - wasn't working. The Xmitter unit is SEALED (to last over time in rain snow ice I suppose) but that meant I couldn't change the battery either. I ordered a new sensor, but although the photo didn't show it, I accidently ordered the WIRED sensor, so had to send it back. The only wireless sensors now for purchase from Hunter are solid antenna, and they are not compatible with my receiver, so now I will have to buy a whole new pair - transmitter and receiver for around $60 after 2 seasons. I fiddled with the original before buying the whole new setup, and the old one started working - pressing the test button on the wireless sensor now caused the LED on the wireless sensor to blink and it was sending correct signals to the receiver again. So for the moment, I've rehung the old sensor outside and it is working, but was broken for a week. I hit that test button 50 times before it sat on my kitchen table for a week, now it's working again. I'll watch it, then at next failure (can't imagine it's going to be fine for years to come) I'll buy a newer model - solid antenna and wireless receiver pair, hoping to get better life out of the next one. Like any utility, they are fine when they are working, but no one wants to spend extra life cycles on fiddling with parts like this instead of on more enjoyable things in life especially during these very SHORT New England summers where you get only a handful of weekends with nice weather in any given year!
