Irrigation controller praised for easy installation and programming. Customers said it's "simple" and "easy to set up" with "great quality." Many replaced older units after 10+ years of service. Some noted the display is small and hard to read. A few experienced issues with backup battery losing time during power outages. Overall reliable but may struggle in extreme heat.

Great quality and easy to get it going.
This controller is easy to install and has all the features anyone could want. It looks and feels solid. The buttons have a sturdy feel and the display large and clear. It was easy to set up and included in the box is a "quick start" guide. I would suggest going to the Hunter website and downloading the full manual so you can take advantage of all the different options this controller offers. I love the entire line of Hunter products, from sprinkler pop ups to spray heads, they are all made to last.
This was a perfect replacement for the X-Core model that came with our house in 2015. The old model had a flaw where the contacts would cause the spring loaded piece of metal to fatigue and catch (then break) when turning it to the left. It lasted 11 years, and I assume this one will last longer (now that I know how it works). Other than that, the functionality is exactly the same. It is simple to schedule times and zones and each schedule has up to 4 watering times a day. It also has an optional add-on where you can connect with their app.Depending on your yard, you might opt for more zones, but the price of this can't be beat.
This timer is extremely easy to install and program. Just make sure you take a picture of the previous wiring for your different zones before you disconnect the old one.
Item exactly as described.Package arrived promptly with good packaging.Easy installation if you're inclined and have tools.I would recommend this seller.
For it does not work as I was thinking
Replaced my old one in like 10 minutes and worked perfectly
Outstanding controller. This replaced an old Hunter. It is easy to program and keeps very good time.
Easy to program. Last one worked for ten years
Excellent product that mounted quickly and works flawlessly
Absolutely great product very easy to wire and works proper
Easy to install and programs.
Simple reliable controller easy to install
Good service
Nice product, easy to install. Highly recommend.
The controller on the home we bought was fried and this one has lasted without any issue for 4 years now. Programming is intuitive and the connections were easy to make.
My 19 year old controller started losing functionality about a year ago. I discussed replacement with my professional sprinkler guy and he advised against getting a Hunter replacement with WiFi. He said they just don't work well in Texas. He told me some customers insist on WiFi, but after a while he gets asked to remove the WiFi on every one he installs. Rain in Texas is hit or miss. A 60% chance of rain means at least 40% don't get rain, our rainfall is usually scattered. The WiFi turns off the irrigation based on weather reports that aren't precise enough. This XC600 X-Core doesn't have WiFi. Where I live that's a good thing. Replacing a Hunter with a Hunter is pretty easy. I did it myself and saved $$$.
Don't know what to say. Just works as expected. Thank you!
So much easier to program than the last timers I had from another manufacturer.
I was looking for a sprinkler controller that would allow some time between zones and this one fit the bill! It was simple to set and gave me the extra setting I was looking for. The control display is on the small side and required my reading glasses to make sure it was set properly.. I dont know why they dont use a larger display like all the other competitors do but I guess its the price to pay for having the delay setting. I was looking for one that had the delay to allow the zone valves to fully close before the next valve opens. Overall Im pretty happy with this controller.
very nice controller, setup was a few minutes. did not come with keys. The part number for the key set is 122516
Replaced my old system with this Hunter X-Core. Easy to install and setting up the controller wasn’t hard either, though the directions aren’t very good :). Works great and I love the newer technology this offers, my last system was 22 years old.
I bought this to replace the one that's been on the house for almost 20 years. Years back I had to relocate it to the west side of the house because the cable in the ground developed an open circuit in the common wire and the cable runs under the three car driveway and it would have been a nightmare to try and run a new one thru the attic. Unfortunately the landscaper doesn't always close the tightly and the wind will blow it open and the Arizona sun is unforgiving to LED screens and possibly the age added to its demise. That said, we had a Hunter controller at ou previous house and loved it. When the crappy one on this house became an issue I installed a Hunter like we had. This one is physically not as wide as the on it replaced but the programming is the same. Installed quickly, was easy to program set and done.
This unit was a perfect replacement for my older Hunter station that no longer worked. Easy to install and works perfectly.
Replaced an Irritrol Rain Dial that failed after a long and trouble-free life. This new Hunter unit has been in service for 6 months now and has proved to be as adequate replacement. Easy to install, set up and program and has proven to be reliable. Not surprisingly, there are programming differences from the previous unit but the user manual provides clear, concise instructions which helps with the "learning curve".
So far good
This sprinkler timer works fine however you can get a timer that works just as well out of like Lowe’s or Home Depot for half the price.
Really easy to setup. Just a dial and some quick settings. Only confusing thing is the start times (I advise just setting 1 time) as they are numbered the same as the # of zones, but actually the unit always runs zones 1, 2, 3, 4 regardless in that order. Start times are for running multiple times per day. Always based on the set run times. The Solar Sync module controller is built in so you can just add the sensor, connect 2 wires, and have a smart meter. I had to go to their website to set everything up as the instructions are lacking, but overall it is super simple and an easy upgrade.
Druring hurricane Helene, lost power. The programming was maintained in memory, but the date and time was dropped. Thought the 5 year lithium battery would prevent that. Only 4 months old. Rest of system fine
Our Xcore sprinkler controller would not turn on. After troubleshooting and seeing power was running to it, we decided to find a replacement for our 11 year old controller. The first two pictures are of the new one and the last picture is of our old sprinkler controller. My husband said it was fairly easy to setup. He did, however, have to make minor adjustments. The new controller come with an AC adapter rather than having to hardwire power to the controller as the old one requires. The new controller has all of the same features and timer settings. Perfect replacement, we are satisfied.
